Euolgy read at the funeral service

Created by Vee 14 years ago
Ron was born in London on 28th March 1942, and started his life in the Elephant and Castle area of the City; he had a brother named Derek. Ron eventually ended up living in Luton, Bedfordshire; from there he moved to Milton Keynes, before finally settling in Luton again. He had several jobs during his lifetime – from driving buses and coaches, to being a burglar alarm engineer. He also worked as a central heating engineer, and it was doing this work that brought Ron and Vee together, on 14^th February 1994. He came to fit her a new central heating system….. and stayed! Ron and Vee were married in May 1995 at a Luton United Reform Church. Vee tells me that Ron was a D.I.Y expert and a perfectionist in all that he did. In December 1994, Ron fell from a ladder and badly damaged his spine, an accident which seriously affected his working life. Ron and Vee enjoyed camping very much, starting out with a leaky trailer tent and ending up with a camper van; Ron also loved spending his Christmas’s in Benidorm. Ron was an avid Elvis Presley fan all of his life, and collected all things about Elvis. When Elvis died, Ron had to have a week of on the sick, to get over the trauma of the death of his idol. Unfortunately, Ron never made it to Memphis to visit the home of Elvis Presley. One of Ron’s sayings was “Yo-o” – to which the response was 4 by 2 ? Perhaps someone can explain this saying to me after the service !! Ron and Vee moved to Spain in 2002, where Ron created the Camposoulmates Group… a website was used to keep people in touch with the progress of work on their properties. It was a great success and at it’s height had 500 members. The work kept Ron and Vee busy, checking out, photographing and reporting on properties for group members. They made many friends by running the group, which finally had to stop when MSN changed it’s group formatting and Ron’s health started to deteriorate. Recently, Ron amazingly saw his brother Derek on the television… he had not seen Derek since 1994.… and there he was… on Goldenballs. Unfortunately, Derek lost the money when his competitor “stole” at the very end. Derek returned to the programme at a later date, and again reached the final two… this time he “split” with a lady and shared 3,000 Pounds. Vee’s children, Richard, Gary, David and Tina, would have loved to have been here today, to share in this celebration of Ron’s life, but due to the U.K weather situation, have been unable to travel. With the recent deterioration in Ron’s health, and his continuing need of oxygen, life became increasingly difficult and hindered very much his activities…. Ron will always be remembered for all the things he did for others.
